You have written a children’s story, but you are now stuck and don’t know where to go from here. You have questions about the process. You want to make your story better or get feedback on it. I always share that the best growth happens when we get the right type of feedback from people with the right type of experience.

When I look at a story, I look at it through filters of experiences both as an author, illustrator, and as a child behavior consultant. The goal in reviewing the story is always to help the best version of the story come to light and help you sharpen your skills as a writer through the process.
This package includes a one hour zoom call where we will discuss your project and I will answer some of your questions. It also includes a written review and feedback of your story with suggestions as well as a follow up zoom call where we will go over the story together and share suggestions for your next steps.

Hire me to help you bring your project to light

You have a dream to write your own children’s book but are finding hard to bring this vision to realization. You have tried a few different things and always seem to get stuck in the wishing phase? If you are serious about learning, growing, and sharing your voice and would like the step by step support and guidance of someone with experience along the way, this is an option to investigate.
Over the course of 5 weeks, we will meet online once a week as well as communicate via email to track the process of different milestones steps as you create your manuscript, work it through different edits and create a vision of your project for yourself. Depending on the stage of your project, you will be given assignments and steps to work on to refine your writer’s voice and your vision of the story. At each step of the progress, you will get feedback and guidance on how to proceed to the next step to end up with a completed story.
This option is for people who are committed to putting in the time, energy, and heart into creating a children’s story. If you are curious about this process, you must be willing to commit a minimum of 2-3 hours per week on your story as well as spend some time on the assigned homework. Illustration only for books

After an initial online meeting and decision on the artistic style of the illustrations, I will create the illustrations based on your stated specifications. I will deliver them either as Photoshop or PDF files. You will be responsible for the layout, adding of the text and everything else.
Step 1: We would start by consulting on the illustration style. I will work with you to help with the paginate and divide the story and make some suggestions for the layout of these illustrations.
Step 2: I develop the characters and create 1-2 sample illustrations to make sure we are on the same page.
Step 3: Once we agree on the style of the illustrations, I will create the illustrations as requested.

Hire me to write a book for your organization

I love to work with organizations that help communities grow. If you are an organization that would like to create a book and sell it as a fundraising campaign, please contact me to have a discussion and see if this would be a good match.
Full package: writing consultant and book illustrator

If you would like to bring your story to life and need illustrations, this is an option that will help the with the entire process of polishing and finalizing the story as well as having all the illustrations done.

Step 1: Support on the story.
With the author, I will work on improving the story’s structure. This will include making sure the story has all the elements needed. We will also be looking at flow, pace, repetition, and making sure that the wording is consistent with the target age. We will explore how illustrations go hand in hand with story telling and which details are best carried by the illustration alone, thus keeping the balance and lightness necessary in children’s books.
Step 2: I will send the story to my personal editor and make suggestions if necessary. At this point we will start working on pagination and choosing the right elements to focus on in the story so that the pace of the story and the illustrations work hand in hand to create suspense, surprise, fun, and show different perspectives and/or points of views.
Step 3: After agreeing on the style and general direction of the illustrations, and getting all the specifications for the book, I will start working on all the illustrations and make some font suggestions as well. Once the font is chosen, I will put together the book in photoshop (which will be viewed as PDF files).
Step 4: The book will be reviewed by everyone, and changes will be made if necessary. The final version will be sent to my editor for a final proofreading and you will receive all the illustration files.
